I was so excited to receive my first ever Rachel Parcell dress in the mail. I’ve been following her blog for about a year, and I love her feminine style. It’s always so pretty, and I love that it’s also modest. That can be hard to come by on the internet now a days! So, when I saw that Nordstrom had picked up her line I couldn’t wait to receive my dress in person.

When I saw the pink floral fabric I knew it would pair perfectly with all of the tulips outside. They are blooming everywhere, and in such vibrant colors! The fabric is a very light pink, perfect for spring and Easter, and the flowers on it are really pretty in person.

Dress / Sandals / Similar Earrings / Basket Bag

I love the detail of the sleeving on this dress, the tiered ruffles are so beautiful in person. I also really like that the faux-wrap style included a hook and eye on top so that it isn’t too revealing. I thought the dress fit true to size. It’s a little loose, but I think that’s the style.

I also managed to get my hands on her thread wrapped earrings and I love them! These Rachel Parcel ones are sold out, but I found these on Etsy and they look very similar, and come in a bunch of colors. I highly recommend the style. It’s super light but adds so much color and interest to an outfit. I wore them with just jeans and a white tee the other day and got so many compliments! They are definitely an instant mood booster.

The Most Marvelous Earrings

It’s no secret at this point that I love a great statement earring! I think they make every outfit feel fun and special, and can add so much glamour and style to your wardrobe. These past few weeks I’ve been blown away at how many amazing statement earrings are out right now, and at all price points. I’ve been constantly scrolling through sites like Baublebar, Lisi Lerch, Antrho and Nordstrom with a giant grin on my face while I look at all the fabulous, marvelous designs! Below are all my favorites, which I think have enough style and pizazz to even wow my favorite Mrs. Maisel!

1. Lisi Lerch Shelly Earrings - I think you are going to see a lot of scallop earrings this spring and summer. I really like the drama of these oversized stud earrings, and the pearls add a little bit of glamour. Aren’t they perfectly preppy? I also like the seashell topped hoops for a more subtle take on the trend.

2. Renata Raffia Heart Earrings - How cute are these pink hearts? I love the texture of the raffia, it makes them less sweet and very on trend. Extra texture is a great way to add interest to an outfit, and I love the bright pop of pink!

3. Cayman Drop Earrings - When I saw these online I let out a squeal of delight! How fun are they?!! I think they would look amazing with a solid color or white top and some patterned shorts or skort. Slick your hair into a low bun and you’ll have the cutest outfit in the trip-state area : )

4. Orchid Earrings - I have these stud earrings in white and I love the pink option too! They literally go with anything, and the petals are this cool clay-feeling material so they don’t add any shine or glare to your outfit (other than the small rhinestones in the middle). I love them!

5. Metal Petal Drop Earrings - I love the 3-D aspect of these earrings, and the hammered gold makes for such a lovely sheen. Kate Spade has done so many cool new things with their spade logo lately, and these earrings might be the best yet!

6. Azure Fiesta Earrings - These oversized earrings are the perfect blend of bright and whimsical. The fringe detail is so fun, and I love how bright they are! They come in pink too!

7. Kate Bamboo Earrings - I love the bamboo design of these drop earrings. I think it looks both modern and mod and adds so much drama. Perfect for summer! Also, the earrings are a bit heavy, but they come in a clip version to better distribute the weight which is so smart!

8. Flower Statement Earrings - I think these earrings are so sweet and retro. Plus, they go with any outfit! I really love the shape of the flowers, they look like something Drew Barrymore would wear don’t you think?

9. Crystal & Blossom Clip on Earrings - I love the yellow! The enamel color is just so fun. Don’t yellow earrings just make you want to bounce around all day? Plus they are super pretty.

10. Camila Drop Earrings (on sale!) - These simple pink earrings will add a touch of shine and a lot of glamour to your outfit. They are just the prettiest shade of pink!

11. Parrot Earrings - I mean, how cute are these! If the sparkle of the cayman earrings was too much for you, then I think you’ll love these fringed parrots!

12. Kiera Raffia Statement Earrings - These earrings also come in a rainbow, but I love these natural ones so much. I think the textured neutral dangles will pair perfectly with a more colorful outfit. The ivory color means you can wear dramatic earrings without going over the top with the look.

13. White Vivi Earrings - These earrings are dramatic and I love them. I first saw them on Cameron on Southern Charm, and I was initially skeptical of how big they are, but now I’m pretty much obsessed with them. They are just so glamorous!

14. Tricia Lavender Earrings - These earrings are made to add some glamour! I like the unique shape a lot, and they come in lots of colors. I’m hoping to add them to my collection soon!

15. Sierra Raffia Stud Earrings - It’s really hard to find light green earrings, and these are the perfect color. I also love the flower shape and the fact that they are textured. I think they’ll pair great with some of my shifts that have a little bit of light green in the pattern.

16.. Ring Hoop Earrings - I think these hoops are a great every day earring that isn’t boring. A great wardrobe staple you’ll wear on repeat.

All The Cutest Easter Dresses

I have always loved dressing up for Easter. When I was little I would wear the dress, a giant hat (with a rubber band under my chin), gloves, party shoes - the works! Since then I have toned down on the accessories but not the excitement. It’s just so fun to get so dressed up in flowers and pastels, wouldn’t you agree? I’ve seen so many great dresses this year! I already got this dress, but it’s so tempting to pick up one of these! Here are all of my favorites -

Top Left - Lace Shift Dress (on sale!) - This white less dress is so pretty. I love it paired with a low bun, it’s so classic and feminine.

Top Middle - J.Crew Liberty Faux Wrap Dress - Liberty prints make me so happy! The little flowers are so timeless and gorgeous, and the faux wrap silhouette is super flattering.

Top Right - Seersucker Shift Dress - The seersucker fabric is so preppy and so timeless! It’s the kind of dress you can wear for years and always be in style.

Middle Left - Striped Pop Embroidered Shift - I love the pop of pink! It’s so fresh and fun, and the detailing makes the dress extra flattering. It’s just such a great mix of classic and fun.

Middle - Gingham Jumpsuit (on sale!) - It ties in a bow in the back! How adorable is that?! It’s just such a modern twist on a classic fabric, I want to wear it everywhere!

Middle Right - Rose Floral Dress - I love the tiny flowers all over the fabric, and the silhouette is so retro. I just love it. It looks just like something Midge Maisel would wear!

Bottom Left - Edith Crepe Dress - This dress is a full circle skirt. That means it twirls beautifully! It looks like such a classic Easter dress!

Bottom Middle - Courtney Rio Stripe Maxi Dress - Isn’t this just the sweetest shade of pink? I love the ruffling detail along the sleeves, and the maxi length makes the dress feel more fancy and Church appropriate. Plus, it can be paired with sandals for a casual day out or even a picnic!

Bottom Right - Lilly Maya Shift Dress - This dress combines seersucker and lace for a class yet preppy Easter dress. I love the lace on top, it’s such high quality and looks beautiful on! Plus it has little ruffles on the sleeves.

Springtime Blooms

This spring I am very excited to wear lots of pink so that I match all of the flowers that are blooming throughout the city. Since pink is my favorite color to wear anyway, I don’t anticipate it being much of a struggle, lol!, but I’ve still been excited to add a few new pink pieces to my wardrobe. One of the first is this darling ruffle neck dress. Doesn’t it match the spring bouquet perfectly? And, as a side note, I may need to decorate my whole home with cherry blossoms, they are just so pretty.

I love the way the ruffles add a pseudo collar to the dress. It frames the face so nicely and adds a little more interest to the simple pinstripes. The dress is called the Tisbury Shift and it is so comfortable. It’s made out of a soft stretchy cotton, so you feel like you are in form fitting pajamas the whole time you have it on. It fits true to size, and isn’t too short. Also, as a side note - it’s one of those dresses that looks better on a person than on the hanger, so if you see it in store be sure to try it on before you pass on it : )

Before I left home for the day I put on my spring jacket (I’ll be featuring this coat soon, I absolutely love it!) and the new D.C. Murphy scarf. It has a number of the big D.C. landmarks on it, like the Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian, as well as cherry blossoms. Isn’t the color scape pretty?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

It’s no secret around here that I love to wear pink! Red is actually my favorite color, but pink is my favorite to wear. Today I thought it would be fun to put together all the new fun pink clothing and accessories items I’ve seen in stores recently. They are all so perfect to wear all spring and summer long, and even fall and winter if you’re crazy like me ;)

1 - Pink Kendra Scott Dax Gold Drop Earrings (on sale!) - These add instant glamour and a pretty pop of color to any outfit.

2 - Pink Bobbi Brown Lipstick - The perfect pink lipstick is a must.

3 - Madewell Raincoat - A classic shape in a fun pastel pink color.

4 - Lilly Pulitzer Maxi Dress - How gorgeous is this flowy maxi dress? If you are going on vacation anywhere tropical it’s such a must!

5 - Sole Society Wicker Straw Bag (under $75!) - I love how this bag mixes different textures and fabrics. The circle bag shape is going to be huge this season, and this is a great affordable option. It also comes in a bucket bag!

6 - Silky Top - This top can easily transition from day to night, and can be worn to the office too!

12 - Gal Meets Glam Julia Dress - Isn’t this dress gorgeous? It’s the perfect midi length and a piece that you will reach for in your closet for years to come.

13 - Pink Kate Spade Sunglasses - I love these sunglasses! They are the most flattering shade of pink and make me feel so glamorous, like a vintage Barbie.

14 - Lace Sleeve Tee - A great top to throw on with shorts of jeans all spring and summer long - it would be that closet work horse that you always reach for.

15 - Lady Sweater-Jacket With Fringe - I love the multi shades of pink in this cardigan. It’s such a gorgeous update on the classic cardigan. Yes please!

The Perfect White Jacket

Did everyone have a good weekend? We went out for St. Patrick’s Day yesterday, corned beef and cabbage at Marvin’s Tavern. It’s a cute restaurant that Jackie and JFK used to go, and it serves some delicious traditional Irish food at reasonable prices (well, reasonable for Georgetown). Also, all of the trees and flowers are getting ready to bloom, so it was so nice to walk around this weekend in the spring sunshine and crisp night air. Since the sunshine was out I was able to pull out a sundress and my favorite spring purchases - a white jean jacket and basket bag.

It’s still a bit chilly in a lot of the country (or air conditioning can be chilly in warmer places like Florida) but it feel like time to bring out spring dresses and pastel florals. This white denim jacket is the answer! It has been the perfect addition to spring dresses - it adds a layer of warmth, the white is a great accent color that matches spring colors beautifully, and it also adds a layer of interest. I love that the sleeves on this one easily roll up, and the gold grommets are a nice feminine touch. It is also stiff enough that the color stays popped and the sleeves stay rolled, but it is soft enough to be comfortable.

Finally, this is my new favorite handbag (quite possibly one of my favorite bags ever!). I love everything about the Kate Spade re-brand, it’s so fun and classic and retro. My favorite piece in the new collection is this Kate Spade rose small convertible crossbody. I think it looks exactly like something Midge Maisel would have used in the Catskills. The interior has a card case so you don’t need a wallet, and fits all of your essentials, and the strap adjusts to either a crossbody style or a shoulder bag. Be prepared to see this bag a lot on the blog, I’ll be wearing it all spring and summer long!

Vintage Inspired Accessories for Spring

I don’t know about you but I am so excited to pull out my spring clothes! The weather isn’t quite warm enough yet here in D.C. for spring dresses (or North of here according to my friends and family) so I’m compensating with lots of spring-y accessories. Items like earrings, scarves and handbags are the perfect way to transition your outfit to spring without sacrificing warmth. Plus, there are so many vintage inspired items out in stores right now. I’m still completely inspired my Midge Maisel and Old Hollywood glamour right now, and am thrilled that retail stores are on board! Here are some of my favorites -

One - Baublebar Aura “Huggie” Hoop Earrings - These earrings hug your ear lob and have a vintage inspired dangle that I love.

Two - Lisi Lerch Pearl Button Earrings - These button earrings are so classy and classic!

Three - Cat Eye Sunglasses - Classic retro sunglasses for under $40!

Four - Madewell Gingham scarf - I think the gingham pattern on this scarf looks just like something Midge would wear in the Catskills and it’s only $12.50.

Five - Kate Spade Rose Convertible Shoulder Bag - I LOVE this handbag. It has a convertible strap so it can sit at the hip or on your shoulder. It’s the perfect size - dainty but large enough for all your essentials - and I think the beige and white color palette is going to be huge this spring. Isn’t it just darling?

Six - Wicker Top Knot Headband - As you know I love top knot headbands, and I think the woven fabric of this one is perfect for spring.

Seven - Straw Boater Hat - I think a boater hat is such a classic silhouette. They go so well with spring and summer dresses and are sure to keep you cool.

Eight - Jeffrey Campbell Woven Slides - I’m so excited that this woven silhouette is now available for under $100. I love the Carrie Forbes version, but they are just so much, and these look so similar.

Nine - Enamel Flower Earrings - A larger stud earring always looks glamorous, especially with your hair pulled back, and I think the enamel is so pretty on these flowers.

Ten - Edie Woven Sandals - These sandals are comfy and reminiscent of a 1960’s day at the Club. I love the color too, it would go with all your spring and summer clothes.

Eleven - Bamboo Bracelets - How fun are these bracelets?! Don’t they look like a vintage Lilly Pulitzer piece?

Twelve - Kate Spade Rose Basket Bag - This bag has such a fun shape. It almost looks like a small basket version of Midge’s vanity case.

I saw this sweater in J.Crew recently and I couldn’t resist! It’s such a beautiful pop of red, which pairs perfectly with all of the blue jeans I’ve been wearing recently (not to mention Valentines Day). I love that depending on what accessories you pair it with it can look casual or vintage glam. Plus, it has a nice weight to it which means that if I’m not outside for too long I can forego a coat when I wear it!

Sweater / Top Knot Headband (or the navy is on clearance!) /Pumps / Jeans / Tank / Similar bag

I chose to make this long sweater blazer feel more vintage glam, which has been my ascetic of choice lately. I’ve been trying to keep in mind my favorite ascetics and colors to wear when I go shopping so that my closet looks cohesive and it’s easy to mix and match all of my items. Red and vintage glam are at the top of both lists. (That, and things that are warm and cozy :) Also, the sweater is very roomy. If you don’t want it to hang quite so loosely, absolutely go down a size.

To play up the vintage charm I paired the sweater with my favorite Chanel look a like pumps, which now come in pink too! The heel is the perfect height and compared to how much Chanel shoes cost they are a bargain. They come in pink now too. They go with pretty much everything, and I love the cutouts on the side. I think they make the classic silhouette feel modern.

I also wore this new top knot headband. I’ve been seeing them on Instagram a lot lately, and was excited to find a black one for a good price at Anthropologie. I love the way the headband has such an Old Hollywood glamorous feel, like something Grace Kelly would wear, and yet is very on-trend right now. Those are my favorite kind of accessories!

One easy way to get out of this rut is to dress up a sweater with a fun scarf. It adds some glamour, some extra color, and more interest to any outfit.

This outfit is one that I love and wear all the time, it’s such an easy formula to mix and match: cardigan/sweater + tank + jeans + scarf. Here I’m wearing a Lilly Pulitzer cashmere cardigan I got at the Annual Sale. The quality is wonderful. This sweater is so, so soft and it hasn’t pilled or shown any signs of wear even though I put it on all the time. They don’t have this specific one any more, but this one looks very similar and this Terri cashmere wrap is in the prettiest light blue. I also have on a tank top from Target. These tanks are so good! They are long and not see-through at all, and such a great price. Perfect for layering!

Finally, I’m wearing my favorite scarf, a Kate Spade silk one with the most darling peacock design. This particular one is sold out, but they have so many new cute ones! Plus, Tuckernuck makes the most amazing scarves too, and their new releases have the prettiest pastel pinks and light blues in them. Here re some of my favorites right now-

You can also dress up a sweater and add some glamour with a good statement earring. I really love the gold Lisi Lerch ginger ones for extra drama. I also love white earrings like these blossom earrings. They add a great pop of color to the hair.

Last weekend the temperatures warmed up a little bit so I got to have fun dressing up and going out in the Gal Meets Glam Lola dress. Isn’t the print of this dress lovely? I am obsessed with the flowers and the color. It manages to remind me of spring flowers while still being appropriate for winter. Plus the ruffle detailing on the sleeves makes me feel so glamorous! I normally don’t go for ruffles, but this dress made me change my mind and I’m so glad! Stepping outside of your comfort zone can be scary, but also so rewarding.

I love the fabric - the Lola has the texture of a very light brocade, so it feels elegant without being heavy. It also keeps it’s shape very well, which is perfect for twirling! Also, if anyone is wondering it fits true to size, and has pockets!

Since Lola feels so vintage glam, can’t you see Grace Kelly in it?, I went with vintage inspired accessories as well. These Margaux ballet flats are a classic silhouette, and the dove gray matches everything. I also opted for my all time favorite handbag, by the brand which Grace Kelly used to wear!

Finally, since the dress has a lot going on I kept my jewelry delicate. When you wear a bold print, statement jewelry can sometimes feel like too much. Instead, try and layer delicate pieces. I love rose gold, and it matches the dress perfectly, so I went with my favorite rose gold flower earrings (similar) and the infinity bracelet my husband gave we on our wedding day. I wear it with almost everything, it’s so special to me.

Jewelry To Add Glamour To Any Outfit

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again - a well placed piece of jewelry can transform any basic pairing of clothes into a stylish outfit. Earrings, bracelets and necklaces are a wonderful way to update your wardrobe and add so much glamour to your wardrobe staples. Take jeans and a basic tee and wear different earrings or a different necklace and you have ten outfits, no problem. Plus, those outfits have so much style and personality because of the way that you accessorized them to look like you. For instance, my style is to add big and colorful statement earrings to a white tee, whereas my friend Samantha might add some drape-y necklaces and the top looks completely different - but both look glamorous!
