How to Wear Balloon Sleeves

Balloon Sleeve Dress

One of fall’s biggest trends is balloon sleeves. I have seen them on dresses, sweaters, t-shirts, even sweatshirts. I love the drama they add to the otherwise basic jeans and a sweater. They are also a lot easier to pull off then other dramatic sleeves, like tulip sleeves, and they don’t get in the way as much. I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I wear a ruffle sleeve I start to feel like a duster…

I found this gorgeous green balloon sleeve dress at Anthropologie. It’s part of their Velvet by Graham & Spencer collaboration and I love it. It’s a thick cotton material, so it’s heavy enough for the fall but not too hot. The seam in the front adds shape to the dress so it feels rather fitted, and the v-neck is the perfect combination of low but not too low. I think the dress is relatively true to size - I sized down but didn’t feel like there was any significant difference between the S and the M. Finally, I like that the balloon sleeves add drama to the outfit without being at all over the top.

I paired it with a scarf around my neck. These Anthropologie diamond scarves are so nice! They are under $20 and the prints on all of them are gorgeous. I also wore these rose gold pansy earrings (currently on sale). I’ve been really drawn to a vintage ascetic lately, and I think both the scarf and the earrings have a vintage charm while still being modern.
