Today I’m excited to talk about the essential eye makeup brushes you need to achieve any eye look. From a Smokey eye to a natural every day look to a sunset eye look these brushes have you covered. They are a flat bristled brush, a blending brush, a smudge brush and a synthetic bristled brush.
The blending brush is the most essential eyeshadow brush in your kit - if you only have one kind, have this one. It not only blends your eyeshadow when you use multiple colors, it is also great to use to apply eyeshadow when you want a washed look and can even be used to apply a light contour along the sides of your nose. I love the MAC 217. Mine has lasted for years and still looks brand new, and it blends eyeshadow like a dream (unlike so,e brushes that just flick the eyeshadow across your face.)
A flat bristled brush is great for applying eyeshadow, particularly highly pigmented eyeshadow. The compact bristles are great for laying down the makeup, so that you get a lot of collor payoff. I love this MAC 239 brush - the quality is great and the bristles are very tightly packed together so that you have a lot of control applying your eyeshadow.
A smudge brush helps you apply eyeshadow with precision to the inner corner of your eye, your crease, and around your lash line. It also helps to blend and smudge eyeshadow and eyeliner around your lash line. My favorite is the Charlotte Tilbury eye smudger brush. The bristles are very compact so it fits into your crease and the inner corner of your eye perfectly. The compact bristles also make it very good at smudging out eyeliner at your lash line.
You need a synthetic bristled brush is great for cream eyeshadow. It helps to both apply and blend the eyeshadow, and the cream formula won’t ruin the bristles. My favorite is this one from Real Techniques. It’s a great price, under $5, and it applies cream eyeshadow really well, including more liquid-y formulas like the Glossier lidstars. You can get it here.
