My tip for this week is to schedule a hair and makeup trial for your wedding. A hair and makeup trial is when you have your prospective stylist do a full test run of your hair and makeup for the wedding. It allows you to perfect the way you want to look, since often pictures of hair and makeup on other people look much different on you. It’s also a great opportunity to fine tune the look - for instance, to test out exactly how much volume you want your hair to have, how far out you want your winged eyeliner to extend, and how pink you want your lips.
The way the process works is fairly simple. A few months before your wedding call salons near your wedding venue to ask about your bridal package. Once you find a salon that is available, in your budget, and has good reviews schedule a hair and makeup trial. Show up to your trial with a couple pictures of how you want your hair and makeup to look on your big day. If you like working with the stylist, then after the trial you book them for your wedding. Both their skills with beauty and their attitude are important - this is a person you are going to spend most of the morning of your wedding taking to. Finally, right after the trial take a lot of pictures of your hair and makeup, including the back of your head, so that it is easy for them to reproduce it the day of your wedding. My friend had a trial, but didn’t take pictures, and they didn’t replicate it the way she wanted.
The biggest reason I recommend having a trial done is that it means you will spend the morning of your wedding feeling pampered and relaxed, instead of at all anxious about how your stylist will do your hair and makeup. I think that peace of mind is well worth the extra cost, since the morning of your wedding should be full of nothing but love and joy.
Finally, if anyone is wondering, here is some of the products my stylist used - I loved the look so much I took notes, haha.
