Wedding Tip Tuesday - Have an Ice Breaker

Wedding Welcome Party

I’m back with another wedding tip for this beautiful Tuesday. This week my suggestion is to have some type of ice breaker before the wedding. Also, if you are having a number of wedding guests that don’t know each other, or haven’t seen each other in a long time, I then I highly, highly recommend some type of event where everyone chit chats before the wedding.

For our ice breaker we decided to have a very large rehearsal dinner (almost everyone at the wedding was at the rehearsal dinner). We had it at a local spot on the water, and there was a live band and lots of hussle and bustle. It was so much fun! It also allowed everyone to get to know each other, so the awkward small talk was out of the way before the wedding. Since the ice was already broken, instead of everyone being polite and formal on the wedding day everyone laughed and danced together!

If you are having a smaller rehearsal dinner, a fun and informal meal before the wedding works great too! My matron of honor had a large picnic at her house, and it was really fun. I didn’t know anyone at her wedding other than her, the groom, and her immediate family (whom I hadn’t seen in years). Because of the picnic, when I arrived at the wedding I knew everyone and felt far more at ease to laugh and dance with the guests.

Having a large informal rehearsal dinner also meant that my husband and I had time to greet and laugh with all of our guests at the rehearsal dinner. This freed up time at the wedding for us to dance more, which was important to us. Finally, since a lot of our guests came in from out of town having a large gathering before the wedding meant we, and our families, got to spend even more time with all of the guests.

So, in short, if you have the time I highly recommend an informal gathering before the wedding! It was an amazing and exciting evening, and made the wedding even more fun for everyone.

Did anyone else have a picnic or large rehearsal dinner before their wedding? Or is anyone planning one? I’d love to hear about it! And if you are in the Palm Beach County area and have any questions about our experiences having our dinner at Bradley’s please don’t hesitate to ask.
