Wedding Guest Makeup

Hi Friends! Next weekend we are going to our friends' wedding, and I am so excited! Over the weekend I started to put together my outfit, including my hair and makeup. Since I'm sure a lot of you will be attending a wedding at some point in the near future, I thought it could be helpful for me to share my look, as well as a few rules of thumb for wedding guest makeup.

I wanted my makeup to be more dramatic than an every day look, since the wedding is cocktail attire, but also not too dramatic (you don't want to do anything that could overshadow the bride!). I also made sure that my makeup would look good in photos, and be long lasting.

First, I did my eyes. I like to always do my eye makeup first so that I can wipe away any flakes or smudges without ruining my foundation. I used my favorite brow pen and gel, and highlighted my brow bone with this great pencil. I primed my eyelids with Urban Decay primer potion and used the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette. I used a mixture of the shimmer shadow and the taupe shadow all over my eye, and a mixture of the second darkest color and the simmer on the outer corner of my eye, blended into the crease. Next I lined my upper eyelid with Urban Decay's eyeliner in demolition, a dark brown, and set it with the darkest brown from the Basics palette. I also put this eyeshadow color along my bottom lash line and blended it to provide subtle definition. I finished the look with a lot of mascara, on both my bottom and lower lashes. Applying mascara on your lower lashes makes your eyes stand out a lot better in pictures, so don't skip them!

On my face I used Charlotte Tilbury wonder under primer, and then a mix of light wonder foundation and Glossier skin tint. I applied it with a beauty blender. I added my new Make Up Forever concealer with this brush, which I am in love with! I applies such a nice even finish! I made sure to set the concealer with powder (I used Glossier wowder). Also, with a full coverage concealer, apply eye cream right before so it will go on smoothly.

I added my trusty Nars bronzer under my cheek bones, along the edges of my forehead, the sides of my nose and jaw for some color and a subtle highlight. On my cheeks I used my favorite Chanel blush. Make sure to add cheek color and not only use bronzer - the glow it adds looks so pretty in pictures!

Finally, on my lips I used Bobbi Brown lipliner in Rose and Fresh Sugar lip in Petal. These are two of my favorites and using a lipliner means the color will last a lot longer.

What do you think? Do you have any tricks for long wearing makeup?
