How to Do Holiday Party Makeup

Holiday Party Makeup

Holiday beauty looks are some of my favorite. There is something so fun about pulling out sparkles and red lipstick for the holidays, even if you’re only plans are to sit at home and watch Home Alone 2. Plus, while there are certainly some gorgeous sets for sale right now, holiday looks are so easy to achieve with al, the products you already have! Here’s how I like to do my holiday makeup

Holiday Party Makeup

Holiday eye makeup is all about being bold. Pile on the mascara, use lots of liner and bring on the sparkly eyeshadow. I love a tubing mascara for lots of drama and volume because it lasts all day and night and removes easily. I’m excited to try this one, recommended by Cameron Eubanks. Apply lots of coats to get your lashes nice and thick! I also love the Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner in Audrey to rim my eyes, since it doesn’t smudge, and a liquid liner to apply a tick cat eye wing. Kat Von D’s trooper Is the best one, in my opinion. Finish it all off with some sparkly eyeshadow swiped all over your lid. Don’t forget the primer!

For the face I think a semi matte finish looks nice in winter, like this one. The secret to turning it into a holiday looks is lots of highlighter. I love layering a cream highlighter, the Flawless Filter product is my hands down favorite, with a powder on top to really lock it in place. Apply them to your cheekbones, brow bone, cupid’s bow and the bridge of your nose. Also don’t be afraid to add some color with a pink blush and some bronzer (and don’t be afraid of the shimmer ones!)

The holidays are all about a red lip! There are so many options out there, you can find one at every price point. If you want lots of drama go with a true red and a matte finish. If you want something more subtle a tinted balm is really pretty, and the Glossier generation g in zip has a buildsble finish so you can go as red as you want. If a red lip just isn’t your thing, a nude lip pairs well with a bold eye too. Just make sure to line your lips so they have some definition. This lip liner goes with everything and lasts all day.

Plus, don’t forget to add some extra glam with your accessories. I love these earrings I got from Tuckernuck and my velvet bow. And, of course, red nails.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Friday

Santa mug

Happy Friday friends! Did you all have a nice post-Thanksgiving week? Mine was good, I decorated for Christmas and baked some cookies and started listening to holiday music and movies- basically it’s full on Christmas in these parts. I’m also almost done Christmas shopping which feels great! I’m not a fan of the overly crowded shopping mall, so not having to brave is a great feeling. Some of the things I enjoyed this week are-

I have been enjoying my coffee in my holiday mug and it makes the mornings feel so much more special!

I’ve been watching re-runs of The Office on Netflix. It’s such a great show to have on in the background. I normally put on Parks & Rec reruns, so The Office has been a fun change of pace.

Every year I try and find cute wrapping paper at a reasonable price and found a number of great rolls at Hallmark! I wanted Paper Source paper but couldn’t stomach the cost, so when I found the Hallmark stuff I was so excited, plus it’s buy one get one 50% off.

I love, love pajamas and am so excited to break out some soft and cozy flannel pairs! I love these gingham ones and these where penguins are wearing santa hats!

My skin has been very dry lately, most likely due to the winter weather and the heat being on everywhere. I started using Embryolisse in the morning and it’s made a huge difference, for $11.99. Plus, it layers well under makeup.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Collection Holiday Set Swatches & Review

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Holiday Set
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Holiday Set

I recently received the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Collection holiday set and it is one of my favorite Cyber Week purchases. I’ve had my eye on the caviar sticks for ages (Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere uses them a lot), and when I saw the set and what a great price it was I caved and bought something for myself while I was holiday shopping. I’m so happy I did because the shades area gorgeous and the quality is excellent. If you are in the market for some new makeup or are shopping for a fellow beauty lover, I highly recommend this set! You can even break it up if you are looking for stocking stuffers.

The set includes four Caviar Sticks, which are a cream eyeshadow, for $39. The eyeshadows are a good size that I think will last for years (and who goes through eyeshadow before it expires? I don’t) and normally sell for $29 each, so it’s a good deal. The colors are all beautiful too, no “dud” like a lot of sets. I’ve been looking for some more opaque neutral eyeshadows for a while, and these are just what I hoped they’d be - lots of pigment, shimmery without being too much for day time, pretty and easy to travel with. Look at the sparkle they add!

The shades are from right to left - Intense Amethyst (a lovely purple color), Intense Moonlight (a platinum brown), Intense Rose gold (a gold brown with a slight pink tinge) and Intense Copper (a copper gold).

There is also another kit out right now, Shadows & Lights, which has very similar colors (I think they just took “intense” out of the name so that it would look different, and switched copper for Au Natural).

The sets are available online here, in stores, and the Shadows & Lights is available here.

I hope you all are having a wonderful Tuesday,
