Gal Meets Glam Dress Blanche for Fall

Gal Meets Glam Blanche Dress
Gal Meets Glam Blanche Dress

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite new fall dresses, the Gal Meets Glam Blanche dress. Aren’t the plaid and the bow just darling? I love all the details, from the cuffs at the end of the sleeves to the pockets to the thick plaid fabric. And did I mention the bow?

Gal Meets Glam Blanche Dress

The dress fits true to size. It is fitted around the waist, and the skirt doesn’t flair out as much as some of the other Gal Meets Glam dresses. The buttons on the front are faux, so you don’t have to worry about any gaping either. The fabric is quite thick, so even though it’s a dress I think you would be warm during a fall night, especially if you wore it with tights.

I couldn’t resist pairing the bow on the Gal Meets Glam dress with the bow on my Lisi Lerch Charlotte Black Snaffle bag. I love this bag so much. I’ve had my eye on it ever since Carly wore it a few seasons ago, and it’s always been sold out. Lisi Lerch recently re-released it and I pounced. No buyer’s remorse here! It fits everything I need it to, goes with everything, and is so darn cute. I really love that the black bow makes it appropriate for winter pairings, and the basket weave make it perfect for summer.

Five Essential Pieces for Fall

Today I'm excited to share five essential pieces for fall. Now that the heat wave has finally broken I'm starting to prepare my wardrobe for autumn. Fall has always been my favorite season and I am so happy to get to experience it again after a few years. Early fall is typically chilly but not cold and rather wet. I've put together these fall essentials to help you stay stylish and comfortable for the next few weeks. I'm particularly drawn to reds and blues right now, but they would look beautiful in any color.

Five Essential Pieces for Fall

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

1. Puffer Vest - I love a nice vest. They keep you warm, and color and texture to your outfit. Vests are also the perfect weight for early fall, and can be layered under other clothes as the temperature drops. There are so many beautiful colors right now, and the current styles add almost no bulk which I love.

2. Striped top - I love a striped top. They are flattering, and will be in style year after year. This J.Crew one is so classic and comes in navy, pink, and multi color. I like the 3/4 sleeve length for September, but they also come in long and short sleeves

3. Rain boots - It's so rainy here in D.C., my sneakers are soaked before I reach the Metro. Rain boots are the perfect solution of course, and a pair of Hunter boots are a wardrobe classic that is in style year after year. I also really like L.L.Bean boots, and you can find great options at other stores like Target.

4. Scarf - A colorful scarf adds so much texture and color to an outfit. Fall dressing is all about layering textures, and scarves are a perfect way to do that. I love these Tuckernuck scarves; they look like Hermes ones and are under $50. A large scarf can be worn so many ways too - around the neck, on a handbag, outside or inside a coat. The options are almost endless!

5. Skinny ankle length jeans - Skinny jeans are great for fall because they tuck well into boots. I like ankle length ones for early fall because they don't drag on the ground when it's raining, and the pop of ankle they add looks cute with loafers or sneakers when it's sunny out.

Multi-Color Pieces For Summer

One trend that has unexpectedly caught my eye this summer is multi colored stripes! I love how much color they add to an outfit without being as overt as say a bright Lilly shift. Plus, they make me feel like Rainbow Bright which is always a plus in my book! (Did anyone else love that cartoon growing up?) Here are some of my favorites -

Multi-Colored Stripes

Ric Rac Dress - I love ric rac, and that with the stripes makes this dress extra fun. Plus it's under $130.

Tassel Hoops - I love the mixed of the tassels (which I think look like stripes) and stones. Plus, it combines my other favorite summer trend - statement earrings - with the rainbow stripes.

Floral Hoops - These aren't technically stripes, but they are multi colored and amazing! Plus, I picked them up in the store and they aren't too heavy.

Striped Dress - I recently fell in love with maxi dresses, and I think the long wide stripes make this number just dreamy. Plus, it's under $60 and can be dressed up with heels or down with sneakers.

Striped Dolman Sleeve Top - I got this top during the J.Crew 20% off sale and I love it! It is so soft and dreamy. As to sizing, it runs a little big, so I would size down.

Seersucker Swimsuit - Isn't the mix of seersucker, bows and rainbow stripes just perfect?! Here's the bikini version too.

Sandals - These are just too fun!

Collared Shirt - Madewell, you did it again. I love how they always have classic pieces with a little bit of a twist, like this collared shirt. I really like this striped dress too, it's lovely for summer.

Socks - Okay, so these aren't stripes. But how cute are rainbow pineapples?

Sweatshirt - This sweatshirt is oversized, which makes it the perfect piece to wear with everything when you are cold. The rainbow makes it match everything too.

What is your favorite trend this summer?

Amazon Fashion Finds

I've been doing a bit of online window shopping recently, and I've found so many amazing deals on Amazon! These Amazon Fashion finds retail for so much less, it's truly remarkable. I'm so excited to share my favorite - I just can't get over how much cheaper they are.

Amazon Fashion Finds

These Kate Spade Genice sunglasses are pink and I am in love with them.

I have these Kate Spade Avaline Aviators and I love them; the rose gold color is so pretty and they are very light and comfortable.

I love how dramatic these Celine 273 sunglasses are.

This is a dupe for the Cult Gaia Arc bag - I think it looks identical.

These Bali canteen bags are everywhere this summer.

This is another dupe for a Cult Gaia Arc bag - personally, since they are so trendy and the dupes look so similar I think the price difference makes the Amazon bag worth it.

I have these black Jack Rogers sandals and love them for occasions that require something dressier than a white sandal but less dressy than heels.

I love the pom poms on these! (disclaimer, they are from 6pm, but it's owned by Amazon, so same thing, haha)

Last but not least, I love the mauve color of these soft Cole Haan slides.

Finally, remember to read the reviews to check for authenticity before you buy anything on Amazon. I've never had a problem, but it's always good to check.

Have you found any great deals on Amazon lately?

Gal Meets Glam Millie Dress

Gal Meets Glam Millie Dress

My new Gal Meets Glam Millie dress arrived in the mail on Friday. It's so beautiful, and so well made. When my husband and I got in the car on Sunday and drove up the coast to wander around Palm Beach, I knew it was the perfect outfit. It's my first maxi length dress, and I can't believe I waited this long to own one! The length is so flattering and swishes so nicely.

The Gal meets Glam Millie dress is a faux wrap dress, which is one of my favorite silhouettes. I love the bow on the side and the v-neckline, it's very flattering. I would consider sizing up, since the sleeves are a bit tight. As to the length, the dress hit the top of my foot and I'm 5'7. The fabric is heavy which makes it hang nicely. Finally, it is very easy to steam the wrinkles out, and it didn't wrinkle from our car ride at all.

Millie Dress / Jack Rogers / Grace Box Mark Cross Bag

I wore it with my beige Jack Rogers sandals and my new Grace Box bag. I love that the beige and white color palette of the Millie dress makes it easy to pair with colorful accessories!

I also decided to do a smokier eye than usual. I used this eyeliner, it didn't smudge at all and the humidity was over 100 (!!!) Finally, I recently cut my hair for summer, and used my Drybar curling wand for some beach waves. They lasted all day, even in the extreme humidity.

Are you a fan of the maxi dress? Do you have any favorites? I'd love to hear where you shop for them, I think my closet needs some further additions!

How to Add a Little Glam Into Your Day

Glamorous Accessories

Recently, I started to feel like I was getting into a little bit of a rut with my style. I would put my hair back into a low pony tail, wear the same small earrings, wear the same athliesure, and the same no makeup makeup. In an effort to switch it up, and leave my comfort zone a little, I started to try and add a little bit of glam into my every day look and it has made a big positive impact! I feel more put together, which makes me feel more confident and more creatively inspired. Also, it's just fun and adds a little more pizazz to my day. If you ever feel like you are getting into a style rut, here are the tricks I have been using to add a little more glam -

1. Get dressed up for the every day - I started putting on a sundress, or some favorite espadrilles when I go out. Going to an afternoon matinee, lunch or even errands feels so much more fun when you have a dress on!

2. Accessorize - Adding a cute purse, a scarf, sunglasses or even your favorite pair of shoes is a nice way to add a little more glam. For instance, instead of sliding into my trusty boat shoes I put on my new pink espadrilles the other day to go out to Whole Foods. Other tricks are tying a scarf around your pony tail, or your handbag or even around your neck! All of these scarves aren't that expensive, but add a little old hollywood glam to any outfit.

3. Wear statement earrings - statement earrings are a fun way to add a little glamour to every outfit. Simple pieces like jeans and a tee feel so much fancier with a fun pair of statement earrings!

4. Style my hair - I feel so much more put together when I take the 15 minutes to "do" my hair. A proper blow dry makes me feel so polished and I start out my day with a little more bounce in my step. I recently cut my hair to my collarbone, so now I have no excuse not to spend the 15 minutes it takes to feel a lot more glamorous. If you are the same as me, here are my favorite products for a perfect blowout

5. Wear clothes outside of my comfort zone - I am trying to go outside my comfort zone and add some pieces to my wardrobe that feel a little more glamorous. Right now this includes midi-length dresses, scarves and statement earrings as mentioned above, sandals with a low heel and silky tops. Here are some of my favorites.

Have you done anything to switch up your style recently? I'd love to hear how!

My Favorite Dress Brands

I have a few go to dress brands that I always reach for in my closet and always shop for. Lilly Pulitzer, Persifor and Draper James always make me feel polished and put together, and I love the ascetics. Plus, they are very flattering and easy to travel with. Since I know that a lot of you are always wondering about these brands, and whether they live up to the hype, I want to share why I love them so much.

Lilly Pulitzer

Lilly Pulitzer dresses are so fun and flattering. They are cut to fit a woman's body, so they don't hang or gape, and a lot of the looks include build in bras. I always love the patterns, and the navy dresses are great too. They have a wide range, from fancy to beach coverups, so I know whatever the event I can find something at Lilly. Some of my favorite are the classic shift, the bread embroidered dresses, and the zip-up Callista. Finally, the quality is excellent - the dresses wash and dry clean to look like new.

Gal Meets Glam

Gal Meets Glam is a newer brand, and everything I have seen so far has knocked my socks off. The fabrics are luxurious and the silhouettes are all just lovely. In person you can tell how well made the dresses are, and how stunning the prints and colors are. I also love that they come in a wide variety of price points and fabrics, so they work for casual and fancy events. I love how romantic the cuts are as well, very Old Hollywood.

Draper James

Draper James dresses are very well made, and the prices have lowered recently. I love that the dresses are all very bright and classic. The dresses are also quite flattering, and they all have pockets! I also love that they make collections for different, like football season and the beach.

Persifor

I love Persifor dresses! The founder worked at both Lilly Pulitzer and J.Crew, and you can tell from the timeless silhouettes and the bright prints. The Carter dress is one of my favorites. It has pockets in the front and the cut is very flattering. My favorite part of Persifor dresses, however, is the fabric. They don't wrinkle! I've traveled with them to Europe, worn them throughout Disney, etc. and never a crease. Isn't that amazing?

I also love dresses from J.Crew and J.Crew Factory. There are so many options at all price points. I really love the faux wrap dresses they have right now. The prices are always great, and the clothes go on sale all the time!

Gal Meets Glam Anne Dress

Gal Meets Glam Anne Dress

Today I'm excited to share the other Gal Meets Glam dress I bought, the Anne. I love everything about this dress- it feels like a party dress, but the cotton fabric still makes it appropriate for day time errands or brunch dates. I hope she brings it back in other colors and prints, it's so wonderful! On that note, GMG releases new dresses today! I've been blown away by the quality of the dresses, I'm so excited to see what else she created.

Gal Meets Glam Anne Dress

The dress pattern of little flowers is so lovely, and the fabric has a nice weight to it so it doesn't immediately crinkle or lay awkwardly. The fit of the dress is true to size. I like that the buttons in the front are faux, so there isn't any problems with gaping. The sash makes it easy to perfect the waist to your waist as well.

Finally, I love the collar. I've always been a fan of a color, and I often wear oxfords and polos. Julia mixed two of my favorite styles, a collar and a floral print to make the perfect dress

Soludos pink espadrilles

To make the dress more casual for day time, I accessorized it with my flat espadrilles. The pink color matched the dress perfectly, and I'm also excited to wear them with cut offs and white tees all summer.

My bracelet is the pearl one by Kiel James Patrick. I think this dress was just asking for pearls, don't you? The KJP pieces are great quality and are made in the USA. I also wore my favorite rose gold aviators.

Have you seen the new dresses released today? Which one is your favorite?

Baublebar Flower Earrings

I recently purchased the new Baublebar Flower earrings, the Amariella Flower Stud Earrings to be exact, and I love them! I think they add the perfect amount of drama and fun to a simple outfit. I’m also impressed with the quality. The earrings feel well made, but are surprisingly light. I wore them all day Saturday and didn’t find them at all heavy or annoying.

Baublebar Earrings / J.Crew Factory Top / Lilly Pulitzer Shorts (similar) / Jack Rogers (old, similar) / Mulberry Bag (similar) / KJP Bracelet

I bought the J.Crew Factory Tie-waist shirt and I’m so happy with the way it fits. The tie in the front makes it more fun than a traditional oxford, and since it’s made to tie it doesn’t lay strangely in the front or back. I’m excited to wear it with printed shirts and jeans all spring and summer long.

I finished the ensemble with my trusty Jack Rogers. They just launched nude sandals and I’m so excited! Plus, the Blush Lauren sandals that sold out so fast last year are back in stock!

The Breakers

My parents were in town so we all went to the Breakers for Cocktails at the Seafood Bar. It was a lovely day with a slight breeze and clear skies and small waves. The resort is one of our favorite places to relax at for a day on the weekend. The grounds are so pretty to walk through, and the courtyard is a beautiful place to sit and drink coffee.

The Breakers

The interior is gorgeous as well, the flowers smell divine!
