Fall Beauty Trends and How to Wear Them

One of my favorite parts of dressing for a new season is changing my beauty routine. I also love to incorporate warmer toned eyeshadow and blush, and a nice darker rosy lip, while also giving a nod to the current trends. What’s great about makeup trends is that you can try out new trends without making much of a dent in your wallet - the season’s hottest nail color will cost you under $10. Today I have put together some of my favorite fall beauty trends and how to wear them, to inspire your beauty wardrobe for this autumn.

Rich Red Lips

Rich Red Lipstick

It’s easy to achieve a rich red pout. First, line your lips with a lipliner that matches your lipstick. I really love the Charlotte Tilbury and Bobbi Brown lipliners, they have amazing staying power! I’ve also heard great things about Wet and Wild lipliners. Next, find a red lipstick that looks flattering on your skin tone. My favorite is Glossier Generation G in Zip or Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Vermillion Red (currently on sale!). The Neutrogena Moisturesmooth Color Stick, 160 Classic Red is a great drugstore option too!

Halfway Liner

Fall Makeup Look

Using a light shimmery eyeshadow on the inner half of your eye, like Reese, did, really opens up the eye. Use a shimmery shade without glitter in it - think pearlescent not sparkly. I really love this smudge brush to apply shadow on the inner corners, and a q-tip works okay too. I think this shade is really pretty to use!

Brown Lips

Brown Lipstick

Brown lipstick is a huge trend for fall - the 90s are back! Just look at Constance Wu’s makeup in Crazy Rich Asians. My favorite brown shade is Generation G in Leo. It layers well, so you can get the perfect color pay off to suit your skin tone. It has a matte finish, so put a lip balm on top to add some shine.

Sunset Eyes

Sunset Eyeshadow

Sunset eyes are a big trend for fall as well. An easy way to adopt to the trend without going too dramatic is to use copper and bronze eyeshadow colors. Use a few different shades, with the darkest shade closest to your lash line and the lightest shade near your brow bone.

Two Tone Shadow

Two Tone Shadow Makeup Look

To get Emma Stone’s eyeshadow look use a colorful eyeshadow on your lid and smudge black eyeliner into the lower lash line. For more drama, layer black eyeshadow on top of the liner.

Dramatic Winged Liner

Dramatic Winged Eyeliner

The easiest way to get a dramatic wineed eyeliner like Lily Collins is to use a liquid eyeliner pen. My favorite is the Kat Von D one in Trooper.

Blue Eyeliner

Blue Eyeliner

A blue eyeliner is a great way to add some pop to any outfit without being too dramatic or over the top. The Urban Decay 24/7 liners come in so many colors! Just apply a thin line to the top of your eyelash line.

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara Review

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara Review

Hi Friends! Today I wanted to share a Glossier Lash Slick Mascara review after having used it for over a month. I know that when I read makeup reviews I like it when the person used the product for a while, so I wanted to provide the same to you guys.  So, in short, I love this mascara

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara Review

Lash Slick mascara provides a lot of length and separation, as well as volume. It is also easy to layer on (I put on coats throughout the day last weekend without any trouble). In addition, it does not flake or smudge throughout the day! AND it removes easily in the shower!

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara Review

Mascara that doesn't flake and also comes off easily is basically a holy grail product for me, and I've spent a bit too much on mascara in the past to find this winning combination. Glossier Lash Slick is $16-more than the drugstore, but about half of many of the options at a department store. I think it is a very fair price, considering how great the product is. Plus, if you use my link (used throughout this post) you can get 10% off your first order!

Have you tried Lash Slick yet? Do you like it?

Coral Lip Makeup Look

Coral Lip Makeup Look

One of my favorite beauty looks for summer is a coral lip makeup look. I think it works for both day and night, and adds a pop of color. My favorite way to achieve the look is with a tinted balm, since it allows you to layer the color - in the day time I want something subtle, and at night I like it to look a little more dramatic. Plus, my lips are always dry in the summer, it's just so hot!

A tinted balm adds much needed moisture. My favorite is the Fresh Sugar coral lip treatment. I've recently been pairing it with the Natasha Deanna coral lipliner and I love the combination. The lipliner gives the balm some extra staying power, and it also defines my lips a bit better, since lip balms can slip around a little bit.

I also wore my favorite Charlotte Tilbury foundation with the most amazing foundation brush ever! As well as her new cream blush, Beauty Filter Pretty Youth Glow Blush. It took a few tries for me to get good at applying it, but I really love the light pink color. It kind of glows.

Finally, I used my favorite brow products, Anastasia Brow Wiz and clear Brow Gel, as well as the Glossier power duo on my eyes - the amazing Glossier Lash Slick and Lidstar in Cub (10% off your first order when you use my link!). The formula on these products is amazing! I wore them on an exceptionally hot day by the pool, applied sunscreen over my face multiple times, sweat a lot, and neither smudged or flaked at all!

Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone! Are you doing anything fun? We are going to visit my brother-in-law in NY and I'm so, so excited! I have been really in the mood to go out of town for a few days, and I'm so excited to visit the city and see family. I can't wait to share our trip with you next week! Until then, there are a bunch of other fun things going on -

Memorial Day Weekend in NYC

1. Charlotte Tilbury came out with a line of lipsticks named after royals, and The Duchess (and here's a trio of all of them) looks gorgeous! I'm hoping I find it when I do my inevitable beauty shopping in NYC (I always say I won't and then get sucked in to the enormous Sephora and Bergdorf Beauty Department (not just the highest end brands either, but everything under the sun).

2. Princess Charlotte sounds just like my cousin's daughter. She rules the roost in our family too!

3. Handbags - There are so many cute handbags out right now. I really want a new one for summer, though I'm sure I don't need one....Here are some of my favorites

4. TV to binge - Florida has had so much rainy weather, and this weekend is supposed to continue that trend. When it rainy out I want nothing more than to lie under a soft blanket and watch fun television shows. If your forecast is rainy too, I highly recommend watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Crown, Lost in Space, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Parks and Recreation, Silicon Valley (if no kids are around, to be frank) and The Good Place. Also, Fahrenheit 451 premiered, and Little Women on PBS is supposed to be great.

5. Also, I finished New Girl. It wasn't my favorite season, but the final scene had me laughing really hard! So, it ended on a great note.

6. I'm going to get my hair done at a Drybar salon for the first time while we are in NY. I love their products and tools, so I'm really excited to get to experience the salon! I think I'll get the Cosmo, or the Southern Comfort. Even the names are cute!

My Favorite Products for Clear Skin

Today I am excited to share my favorite products for clear skin. The products help to keep my skin hydrated and blemish free, while not irritating my sensitive skin. I find it can be a difficult balance - finding products that cleanse your skin and remove makeup while not being harsh or irritating. After a lot of trial and error, however, I have found a few products that do just that!

Bioderma Micellar Water

1. Bioderma Micellar Water - I use this as both a toner and a makeup remover. Put a little on a cotton pad and swipe it across your face after the shower. It gets off any remaining makeup, even eye makeup, without stripping the skin. It also doesn't leave an oily residue or clog pores.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

2. Glossier Milky Jelly - I love this face wash. It took me years to find a cleanser that cleansed my skin so I don't get blemishes, but also didn't strip my skin. So many cleansers are so harsh! I used to get red and irritated patches on my face, that I thought were from not cleansing enough, but were in fact from over cleansing. Milky Jelly solved those problems and I always make sure I have extra on hand and bring it when I travel. Also, don't forget I'm a rep so if you use my link you get 10% off your first Glossier order :)

Foreo Luna for clear skin

3. Foreo Luna - I love this little cleansing device. It's covered in these silicon bristles, and you put on face wash and then massage it in little circles all over your skin until the build in timer buzzes. It's one of those devices that doesn't feel like it's doing anything, and then you realize you haven't had a pimple since you started using it...I highly recommend. They also came out with this mini mini version which looks like a great product to test it out with and travel with!

What are your favorite skin care products? I'd love to hear, I love trying new ones out!

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara

Glossier Lid Slick Mascara has launched! Can you tell I'm excited? I have been in a mascara rut as of late, and I can't wait to see how Glossier has solved all my problems! All of their products always do exactly what I always wished makeup products would do - the brow boy adds the volume I always wish brow gels did, the eyeshadow blends like I always wished eyeshadow would blend, etc. Here is their teaser article about the product, https://intothegloss.com/2018/05/what-is-the-best-mascara/. And here is the mascara!

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara costs $16, and you can get 10% off your first Glossier order with my rep link! That's half the price of many mascaras now days. The formula gives you fanned out lashes that are defined and wispy, think very doe eyed. It's long lasting but not waterproof (which is my favorite). Glossier used fiber technology so that it lasts 12 hours but is not impossible to remove.
