Glossier Nightshine in Platinum Rose

I recently got my hands on some Glossier Play highlighter, which they are calling Niteshine, and I love it! I bought the color Platinum Rose, which is a lovely rose gold sheen. It looks like you are luminescent on all the high points of your face, somewhat like an updated version of Benefit’s High Beam. Unlike High Beam, however, it blends very well and can be applied to a subtle sheen.

The highlighter comes in a little bottom with a twist off cap that doubles as an applicator. I love the little doe foot - it allows you to dot on product wherever you want it on your face without drips (just make sure to blend with your fingers after).

And here I used it as part of my makeup routine. I applied it on my cheekbones after I applied my foundation and blush/bronzer. Isn’t it such a pretty shade? It lasts all day too!

Overall I give Nightshine an A! I love that it doesn’t gloop, it’s easy to blend, the color is stunning and it provides the perfect amount of glow without being over the top. Plus the price point is $20, far less than many highlighters out there.

Today I’m really excited to announce the launch Glossier’s newest product, an eye makeup remover! To use it you just shake the product to combine the micellar water and makeup-erasing oil and wipe it across your eyelids a bunch of times. Unlike other products, like makeup removing wipes, Milky Oil won’t tug at your delicate eye skin or rub and cause irritation. Plus, the packaging is pink : )

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation Review

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

I recently purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation when my old foundation ran out, and it is the foundation of my dreams! If you are looking for a more full coverage foundation that isn’t thick and cakey than the magic foundation is for you! It makes your skin look airbrushed somehow - all of your flaws are gone but you don’t look like you have a lot of makeup on. It’s just amazing, and I don’t know where it’s been all my life!

The CT Magic Foundation blends really well, lasts all day, and doesn’t make me break out (even when I accidentally fall asleep in it). I’m a shade 3, which is a perfect match to my skin tone. I pair it with the embryolisse concentrate to moisturize and a high SPF (it doesn’t have SPF, but I wear extra sunscreen even when my foundation has SPF).

I recently received the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Collection holiday set and it is one of my favorite Cyber Week purchases. I’ve had my eye on the caviar sticks for ages (Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere uses them a lot), and when I saw the set and what a great price it was I caved and bought something for myself while I was holiday shopping. I’m so happy I did because the shades area gorgeous and the quality is excellent. If you are in the market for some new makeup or are shopping for a fellow beauty lover, I highly recommend this set! You can even break it up if you are looking for stocking stuffers.

The set includes four Caviar Sticks, which are a cream eyeshadow, for $39. The eyeshadows are a good size that I think will last for years (and who goes through eyeshadow before it expires? I don’t) and normally sell for $29 each, so it’s a good deal. The colors are all beautiful too, no “dud” like a lot of sets. I’ve been looking for some more opaque neutral eyeshadows for a while, and these are just what I hoped they’d be - lots of pigment, shimmery without being too much for day time, pretty and easy to travel with. Look at the sparkle they add!

The shades are from right to left - Intense Amethyst (a lovely purple color), Intense Moonlight (a platinum brown), Intense Rose gold (a gold brown with a slight pink tinge) and Intense Copper (a copper gold).

The Best Travel Beauty Items

With our upcoming trip to Italy (we're officially going!) I've been thinking a bit about what the best travel beauty items are. I try my best to only travel with a carry-on, but I like having my hair supplies and makeup for a few different looks with me when we travel. After a bit of trial and error over the years, I've come up with a pretty good formula that I am excited to share. These items will cover your beauty routine, but take up very little space!

1. Dry Shampoo - I don't always use dry shampoo at home but I love to travel with it. On days where you have walked a lot but don't want to take up vacation time with doing your hair, this one allows you to go a few days in between washes.

2. Travel Wet Brush - I love the wet brush, it detangles my hair after the shower without over pulling or tangling it. This travel sized one is itty bitty and takes up almost no room in your suitcase.

3. Styling Cream - When I blow dry my hair I always use a styling cream, and this one comes in a great travel size. 

4. SPF Setting Spray - Reapplying sunscreen throughout the day is so important! When I travel, however, I am often walking around all day. This makeup spray is an easy way to reapply SPF to my face since the little bottle fits in my purse. 

5. Travel Hair Dryer - I just got this blow dryer and I am so excited about it! It is soooo tiny! Plus it is dual voltage which is amazing for international travel. 

6. Eyeshadow stick - Eyeshadow stick are great for traveling because you don't have to bring eyeshadow brushes. These Laura Mercier caviar sticks are lovely, and Glossier Lidstar is wonderful too. 

7. Cream blush - I like to bring cream blush when we travel since you don't need to bring a brush to apply it. My personal favorite are the Glossier Cloud Paints

8. Makeup wipes - My favorite are the Say Yes to Cucumber ones. The scent is pleasant but not overpowering, you can often find them on clearance, and they never break out my sensitive skin.

9. Travel beauty containers - I put my night cream and eye cream into little containers that take up a lot less room. You can get sample jars free from department stores, or these clear containers work well too. 

10. Glossier Milky Jelly mini - My favorite face wash now comes in a mini size! 

11. Foreo Luna Play - You all know how much I love my Foreo Luna (theres a deal for both the mini and the play as part of the Nordstrom sale), and this little mini one is so cute and takes up almost no room in your makeup bag. 

12. SPF moisturizer - This moisturizer has a high SPF and actually protects your skin from the sun. Plus, your man will use it too (unlike the makeup setting spray, haha).

Lash Slick mascara provides a lot of length and separation, as well as volume. It is also easy to layer on (I put on coats throughout the day last weekend without any trouble). In addition, it does not flake or smudge throughout the day! AND it removes easily in the shower!

Mascara that doesn't flake and also comes off easily is basically a holy grail product for me, and I've spent a bit too much on mascara in the past to find this winning combination. Glossier Lash Slick is $16-more than the drugstore, but about half of many of the options at a department store. I think it is a very fair price, considering how great the product is. Coral Lip Makeup Look

One of my favorite beauty looks for summer is a coral lip makeup look. I think it works for both day and night, and adds a pop of color. My favorite way to achieve the look is with a tinted balm, since it allows you to layer the color - in the day time I want something subtle, and at night I like it to look a little more dramatic. Plus, my lips are always dry in the summer, it's just so hot!

A tinted balm adds much needed moisture. My favorite is the Fresh Sugar coral lip treatment. I've recently been pairing it with the Natasha Deanna coral lipliner and I love the combination. The lipliner gives the balm some extra staying power, and it also defines my lips a bit better, since lip balms can slip around a little bit.

I also wore my favorite Charlotte Tilbury foundation with the most amazing foundation brush ever! As well as her new cream blush, Beauty Filter Pretty Youth Glow Blush. It took a few tries for me to get good at applying it, but I really love the light pink color. It kind of glows. 

Coral Lip Makeup Look

Finally, I used my favorite brow products, Anastasia Brow Wiz and clear Brow Gel, as well as the Glossier power duo on my eyes - the amazing Glossier Lash Slick and Lidstar in Cub (10% off your first order when you use my link!). Summer Beauty Essentials

Today I'm excited to share my current favorite summer beauty essentials. I love makeup, and I love switching up my beauty look for the season. I think it's so fun to play around with makeup and incorporate new ascetics and colors into my collection and routine. Makeup is the best because if something doesn't look the way you thought it would, you can just wipe it off!

My current favorites are

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter- This stuff really lives up to the hype! It is creamy highlighter that can be used a number of ways. I apply it to my cheekbones, chin, center off my nose and center of my forehead and blend. You can also use Flawless Filter under your makeup, or mixed with your foundation (or however else you want!) 

Glossier Lash Slick - I love this mascara! It lengthens and defines lashes, doesn't flake or smudge and is easy to remove. Plus, it layers nicely if you want more volume. A+

Charlotte Tilbury The Classic Eye Powder Pencil - This is a nice brown eyeliner. It applies very easily to the waterline and the top of the lash line and doesn't smudge. I'm very picky about my eyeliner, I hate any amount of smudging or panda eye, and this stuff holds up in Florida humidity. I also like that it can be applied lightly for a subtle look, or layered on for more drama. Plus, I love that the brown shade is Audrey after Audrey Hepburn. 

Fresh Sugar Lip in Coral - I love a coral lip for summer, don't you? This shade is a true coral and very bright and happy. The fresh sugar lips are also the most moisturizing lip products around, in my opinion. I love that I can have the color of the lipstick and the hydration of a therapeutic lip product. 

Natasha Denona Coral Lip Liner - I use this lipliner to better define my lips when using the fresh sugar coral. It also makes the color stay a lot longer, since color fades on my lips with eating and drinking. 

Beauty Filter Youth Glow Blush - This is a light pink blush color and a pearly highlight color. I think that cream blushes are perfect for summer; they go on lighter which makes them look very fresh and glowy, and go well with a summer bronze look. The Beauty Filter comes with the brush, which is shaped to fit around your cheekbone. The color is really pretty, it blends well, and I love the glow that the highlight color gives me. 

Supergoop SPF Setting Spray - You have to wear SPF in the summer, and this setting spray makes it easy. You just spray it on your face throughout the day so you are protected by the sun without ruining your makeup.

Soleil Tan De Chanel - This is my favorite liquid bronzer. It goes on almost iridescent and makes you look like you spent a long weekend on St. Barts.

Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Brush Review

Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Brush

I recently purchased some Charlotte Tilbury makeup brushes and am blown away by the quality of them. I think that nice makeup brushes make a huge difference in how your makeup looks, and are worth investing in more than your makeup. In my experience, a nice brush will make almost any product look smooth and blended, whereas a bad brush will make even the nicest makeup going on streaky. I have therefore been slowing growing my collection over the last few years and the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Complexion BrushEye Smudger Brush and Beauty Filter blush brush are my favorites to date!

I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Complexion Brush after a Nordstrom sales woman tested some products on my face and used the brush. It is hands down the best foundation brush I have ever used. It is soft, the bristles are dense, and it truly gives an airbrush finish. When I used the brush the first time I literally said "Woah!" out loud, I was so impressed with how it smoothed and blended my foundation and the Flawless Filter. The dual ends make it easy to fit around your noise, hairline and chin as well. If you are going to buy a foundation brush, buy this one!

Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Brush

The Charlotte Tilbury Eye Smudge brush is the perfect size to apply eyeshadow to the crease of your eyelid, as well as the inside and outside corners of your eye. I love how it both applies eyeshadow really nicely and blends it out, since I used to use two brushes for my eyeshadow. In addition, the brush is soft instead of scratchy like most smudges brushes.

Finally, I have the blush brush from the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Filter Pretty Youth Glow Blush set. It is a very unique shape - the brush has a diver in the middle so it sits on top of your cheekbone perfectly. It is very soft and very dense, so it picks up a lot of product with one swipe. I love the unique shape, and that it applies cream blushes and not just powder ones.

How To Do A Perfect Cat Eye

This summer I am all about glowing skin and a classic cat eye. I think the cat eye can look intimidating to re-create, which is why I'm sharing my secret to a perfect cat eye. All you need is liquid liner and a mirror. I think it’s a classic look for summer since it makes a statement without a lot of dark eye makeup.

First, you need a good liquid or gel liner. My favorite liquid eyeliner is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. It's a felt tipped pen, and the liner goes on precisely and lasts all day. It's also a true black. My favorite gel liner is the Estee Lauder gel liner, used with a liner brush that is bent at an angle like this one.

With the eyeliner in hand, it's four easy steps on each eye. I drew them above. First, draw a line from the outside corner of your eye to as far out as you want the wing to go. I generally draw it between 1/4 and 1/8 of an inch at a slightly upward angle. Next, line the top of your lash line and connect it to the wing.

Third, draw a line from the top of the wing directly across towards your noise. The wing should now be the outline of a triangle. Finally, fill in the triangle. If you want a more dramatic cat eye, you can also make the line on top of your lash line thicker on the outer half. 

Repeat on the other side. Don't feel like you need to make them match perfectly on the first try. You can use makeup remover, or eye cream, on a Q-Tip to adjust the lines until they are perfect. Also, if you already did the rest of your makeup eye cream works better, since it won't erase everything.

Here's the finished look. After I lined my eyes I added a lot of mascara, and added some eyeshadow in the buff shade of the Naked Basics 2 palette. I wanted to keep the rest of my face bright and glowy, so I used Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder mixed with Wonder Glow, and did a light contour with the Bronze and Glow palette and a light pink Armani blush. I wore Charlotte Tilbury lipliner and lipstick too. I really love her products right now, the texture and colors are just beautiful and fool proof to apply. Finally, my earrings are these flowers from Baublebar. Aren't they just so fun?!

Cool New Beauty Products

While we were in NYC I of course had to do some beauty shopping. I love checking out the massive beauty department in Bergdorf Goodman, and Ricky's NYC. I found some really cool new products I'm excited to share. 

Cool New Beauty Products

At Bergdorfs I don't buy anything, but I love browsing and watching all the different colors and products that you can only find online around me. For instance, they have the entire Charlotte Tilbury Line!  

At Ricky's I always pick up new tools and face masks that I can't find in stores in Florida. They have an entire wall of sheet masks for under $10 each, and rows upon rows of every brand of shampoo and conditioner you've ever heard of. On top of that, there is an entire room dedicated to hair clips and bobby pins etc. I didn't even know there were so many, haha. 

Here are my favorite finds -

1. Invisibobble Nano - I love the Invisibobble hair ties. They keep your hair pulled back and somehow they don't crease it, even after a few hours. I found this mini versions that match my hair color; since they are so small they don't need to be re-twisted around your hair.  

2. No Crease Hair Clips - These hair clips don't crease your hair. They are perfect for when you want to clean back your hair after you style it while you do your makeup, or before you go out. I can never find them in store, so I was excited to find these. 

3. Olaplex- This hair treatment fixes hair damage from coloring or heat damage, and you can use it at home.

4. Large Bobbypins - I bought these to secure velcro rollers when I blowout my hair. The spring clips always get caught, and it hurts, haha. 

5. Yu-Be Foaming Skin Polish - I love the you-be skin cream. I call it magic cream - it heals flaking and peeling skin facial skin 100% of the time. The brand came out with this body polish; it foams up and then you rub it in to exfoliate your skin.

6. Esfolio Egg Essence Mask Sheet - This mask is "it contains egg yolk extract which helps keep skin energetic and moist. Vitamins of chaenomeles sinensis fruit extract and portulaca oleracea extract help to increase skin elasticity and moisture." Plus, it's $2.99!

7. Bioderma Cleansing Wipes - I love Bioderma micellar water, and am really excited to try the facial wipes. They are my go to beauty products to travel with, and this looks like a fun upgrade.  

8. Pure Smile Pearl Mask - This sheet mask was only $1.99. I read an article a while ago that the pearl face masks are very good, so for less than $2 I'm in!

9. Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter - I have heard so much about this highlighter, I was excited to see what it looks like in person. It is a lot thicker than I thought, and very creamy. The saleswoman says her favorite way to apply it is to mix it with her foundation (any brand). You can also dab it on the high points of your face, like a traditional highlighter. 

10. Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes Palette, Transform-eyes - This palette swatches a lot lighter and prettier than it looks in the pan. The orange color is actually a lovely burnt sienna. I didn't buy it...but I have a feeling I'm going to succumb. The colors are so unique and pretty, and I am looking for a good 4-color palette for night time looks.
